I had my first parent/teacher conference with my girl's kindergarten teacher yesterday.

When she used to sit in her infant seat at 16 months and call out the numbers and letters on the license plates she could see, I did not envisioned being told at this first conference little more than the fact that she has difficulty with the short "i" and "e" sounds and "uses tears to try to get her own way."Velmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06425566563311066790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13856645.post-1132116593166473232005-11-15T23:49:00.000-05:002005-11-15T23:49:00.000-05:00LOL!!!I've been there! Singing, counting, making animal sounds, basically spewing any and every word she's learned and a whole lot of nonsense in between.

I often wonder if I can understand a lot of it because I listen to her all day, or if a stranger could decipher it as well.Suburban Turmoilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14788867412080827567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13856645.post-1132036217733756352005-11-15T01:30:00.000-05:002005-11-15T01:30:00.000-05:00We went to Costco today, too, and Matthew said the...We went to Costco today, too, and Matthew said the magic words, "PEE PEE" -- before the fact, not after, bless his heart.

As long as they can pronounce the words for bodly fluids correctly and in a timely manner, they`re all geniuses, in my book.L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13437332749627332216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13856645.post-1131992960823110762005-11-14T13:29:00.000-05:002005-11-14T13:29:00.000-05:00You made me chuckle...My hubby and I have had simi...You made me chuckle...My hubby and I have had similar conversations about our kids only to be put back in our place.

A friend of mine is married to a poet, a really incisive and funny guy. So, I went to one of his readings one night and he told this story about how he used to do poorly on aptitude tests in school, as in he should have a tutor and consider janitorial work for a career. His Mom had hid the results for him for many years until he found out. Feeling dejected and stupid his mother cradled him in his arms. She then said, "I pity the prodigies. If there were any justice in the world they would die once they hit the age of 21, having hit their peek at the age of 15. You my love, will always have more to look forward to, more to learn, to understand and appreciate.”Danihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06443066023022723763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13856645.post-1131988042321994862005-11-14T12:07:00.000-05:002005-11-14T12:07:00.000-05:00Charlie will intentionally talk gibberish at us no...Charlie will intentionally talk gibberish at us now, just to watch our bafflement as we try to decipher what he's saying.
