My Daughter, The Girlie-Girl
This Morning...
"Mommy, can we live in a pink house when we move?"
"I don't think so, Sweetie."
"But, but, but, whyyyyyyyyy? I LOVE pink."
"I know you do, Baby Girl, I know."
Later, in the sand box...
"Arggghhh, Mommy, let's dig for buried treasure!"
"OK."
Digging, digging, digging.
"Mommy! I found sumpin!"
"What could it be?"
"Ohhhh, it's buried treasure Mommy!
"What's in the box?"
"Pretty dresses for everybody! Here's one for you, Mommy! Arghhhh!"
At the lunch table...
"Mommy, may I please have some graham crackers?"
"You may, just as soon as you finish your carrots."
Sigh "No thanks. They don't match my dress."
After lunch...
"Mommy, I want to be a long princess."
"What is a long princess?
"She's, she's, she's TALL!"
Still later...
"Wow Mommy, I looooove your pink fingernails."
"Thanks, Baby Girl. It's Play-Doh under my fingernails from earlier this morning."
"Oh. Hey Mommy? Can we play Play-Doh again?"

If Alex ever tries the "My veggies don't match my outfit" routine," we'll know that you and I suck as matchmakers.
HAHAHA!! so cute...
Misfit, I'm totally convinced that there is a girly-girl gene embedded in all members of the female persuasion. Lately, my little 18-month old girl has taken to walking around the apartment carrying her handbag. She also tried to wear her mother's high heels. Where does this come from?
By the way, that photo is ridiculously cute.
OMG...you do all that in one day before like what? 3pm? Oh hell no. That is reason enough for me to never have another child. I am just too old for all that....sheesh I'm whipped just thinkin' bout it.
She does look awfully adorable though....and tell Baby Girl we have pink houses here.....so you can come live by me..dealeo?
I LOVE it! I'm going to try the color-coding of the vegetables trick....maybe I'll be able to get them to eat something GREEN!!! My girl is so not girly, so I might have to disagree with metrodad. She wants to have a Star Wars party, she only wears jeans, she desperately wants to be a boy when she grows up (and given an increasing transgender population, I don't shut down the opportunity!), and she loves trucks, trains, balls, etc. The beautiful part of parenting--you love even the ways in which they surprise you or end up different than you expected!
I don't know, metrodad... I was the oldest. At 18 months I refused to let my Mom dress me anymore. It was the '70's and my favorite outfit was a pair of pull up plaid stretch pants and a soft polka-dotted shirt (!). I did the heels, purse, and makeup for play time, but I hated dresses. And pink. My little sister though? If it didn't have pink, purple, or lace, she wasn't touching it.
Your girl sounds and looks very cute!
Metro- I was the anti-girlie girl. I had tonka trucks and never had a Barbie. I don't think I ever wore pink. And while Baby Girl loves to play with her fire engine and her football, she is typically doing it in that God-Awful yellow princess dress that has 17 holes in it. We have photos of her wearing her Steelers jersey OVER the dress for Super Bowl.
I don't care if my Juniper gets all girly, so long as I get to choose the dresses.
LOL! Mine haven't tried coordinating their veggies with their clothes just yet but maybe it'll work with my son!
Nevermind. There aren't any blue veggies.
I am so happy to have a girl that I don't care if she's girly, tomboy, or a rodeo clown!
But honestly, I hope she's a little girly. Girl stuff is so much fun!
Happy Mother's Day !!!!
Hope you had a great day with your family!
That is so funny! My daughter is a totally girly girl too even though I'm a tom boy all the way. Okay, not dykie but you know what I mean. But my daughter LOVES lip gloss and necklaces etc. I find it extremely amusing.
I knew I was missing something by having two boys! How sweet!
