Unpacking, Cleaning, Paaaiiinntttting, The New House (Sung to the tune of Loving, Touching, Squeezing)

I am currently writing to you from the Wegman's near my house since they are generous enough to have a hot spot. This is a welcome break as I have done nothing but clean, unpack, pull wallpaper off walls (the easy stuff), paint some rooms, figure out what I am going to do with towels that are aqua blue and happy green when all of the bathroom have the same turd brown tile ,listen to people come by to give us estimates on everything from siding, to carpeting, to a new patio, to a deck, to painting the outside of our house and the inside as well. We've had numerous people come by to turn things on and connect things, but not a single person is capable of allowing us to set up our dsl until 8/25, so we are without internet access.

All in all, we have gotten a lot done. My husband mentioned last week that I am so busy that there is no time for me to cry. Part of me wanted to kick him upside the head ala Billy Jack, but he's right. We have worked really hard to make Baby Girl comfortable in the new house because she is not really liking it. She misses her old house and wants her old room back, and I am right there with her. Every day gets a little better. It helps that some of our friends have visited and she has had playmates to help occupy her time. And I'll be honest, I am motivated to get this house into a home so that I can stand to live in it.

In the meantime, I am COMPLETELY behind in my blog reading without a chance in hell of ever catching up. Especially since I am leaving for LBI next Saturday for a week and I will be doing nothing but drinking and stuffing my face with Peanut Butter and Fluffernutter sandwiches (that's Long Beach Island in New Jersey for those of you not in the know.)What's been happening?

Okay, you need to SHUT IT RIGHT NOW about the Wegman's, missy. WE just got back from dinner, and I spent the entire drive home whining, "But Chapters isn't Barnes and Noble, and Loblaw's isn't Wegmans, and I want to go home. Let's move home and live on food stamps."

I'm so homesick I can't STAND it. I'd take the old house in the old neighborhood, chain link fences abound, over this beautiful house in a place where none of my friends or favorite things exist.

And we are sooooo much more than our standard five hours apart, sister.

And NO, I'm not drunk on Lakeport beer tonight. Just sad.

By the way, as of tonight, I have a new "most embarrassing moment ever." Worse than quitting my job because I tooted. Ohhhhh yes.... I'll call you tomorrow.

I am so glad to see you are alive...that the moving van did not swallow you whole. But I have nothing good to say, so I'll come back tomorrow.

Oh and you missed BlogHer stuff.

Welcome back!
Good to hear you made it to your new home. I hope everyone settles in soon and it begins to feel like home.

So sorry baby girl is having a rough time adjusting. Have you guys done the crayola thing yet or sesame place if you don't mind the crowds? I've lived here two years and still haven't checked out the LV Zoo, but that's another option if you get sick of the house stuff. I would cry if I had to go w/o internet for that long!

Nice to hear you're still alive! I'm so sad for you about the house. It's no fun trying to fix up something you don't love. The beach sounds great (and thanks for explaining LBI cause I'm clearly not hip or in the know!)

I LOVE LBI. have fun, it's the best beach, I think, on the Jersey coast.

When you check your stats you'll see I've been coming by a lot. Just seeing the picture of your old house and sighing a lot. Wondering how the unpacking was going and knowing in my heart that NO INTERNET HOOK-UP IN THE HOME EQUALS DEATH!!! I weep for you.

That said, I hope you have a great time in LBI and that Baby Girl finds some new friends and learns to like her new house. Brown bathrooms...ugh. Can't blame you for the hatred there.

Post pictures when you can. We've missed you.

Oh man, I'm jealous of the LBI trip! We were doing a big east coast summer family get together there until a few years ago, when the family just got too big to stay together and coordinate.

Have fun, relax, and when you return to your house, your internet will be on!

Mmmm...I love peanut butter. Sorry your house is taking getting used to. I moved a lot as a kid and believe me, it's harder on the adults than the little ones. I got used to houses fast and soon learned to love every place I ever lived. It will be the same for yours!

You sound so busy - I think you're smarter to jump in and do it all now (painting, siding, carpet, etc.) than waiting to settle in first. I hope it starts feeling like home soon (especially for Baby Girl). Have a fun week in LBI. You deserve a nice long break!

Glad you`re back -- moving sucks. I feel your pain.

Get settled! THEN catch up on blogs.
