It's Pajama Party Tuesday!

Here at Casa de Hausfrau, I have decided that we are not going to get out of our pajamas today. Yes, it will be 80 degrees and beautiful and yes, I have errands to run. And yes, it's a Tuesday. But I am throwing caution to the wind and allowing the girls to vegetate with me. It seems as though we have been running at a breakneck speed since we moved here and I just want to slow down a bit.

Work has been going well and the kids are enjoying daycare. Well, Baby Girl is enjoying daycare. Peaches is tolerating it. Things are plugging along with the house. Contractors are coming on Thursday to pour a new patio. Now the projects we have to do are the boring ones--new closet doors, crown molding, new bedroom doors, new heaters.

I have been trying to plan a surprise weekend away with Herr for November. It has been a really rough summer and we need some time alone. My MIL has graciously agreed to come out and care for the girls. The only problem is that I can't seem to get a flight to anywhere warm and Caribbean that is affordable or having a return flight on a Sunday at 5AM. I didn't want to go somewhere cold, but at this point, I might. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi! I love pj days, we did that Sunday. I would suggest Bermuda, it gets cheap in November but it is still lovely and you can get great package deals at some of the big nice hotels. Just a thought.

Ugh! I never go anywhere so I have no suggestions. An overnight in New York sounds good to me.

I will second an overnighter in New York. Or hell, stay in your town, but just stay in a hotel for the weekend. Then you could afford to stay in a nicer hotel. Eat out or in...whatever, see a movie, go dancing. Just have fun and don't go home.

Glad work/day care is going well. I was beginning to wonder about you.

Could you maybe escape to a beach somewhere? Even a boring, nearby beach is better than none at all.

I mean, your activities are going to be, ah, confined to one thing anyway, so does it really matter where you are? :)

Glad to hear work is going well and the girls are adjusting to daycare.

As far as getting away? Gosh, my thoughts are always "anywhere but here". November is a beautiful time to get away on the East Coast I would think. Maybe go to DC or something. I loved living in the south during the fall months-gosh everything was so pretty and it's warm still.

Good luck with that one.

Rochester. I'll be there this weekend. That's reason enough to go.

And Stephanie--- thanks for the visual of Herr and the Mrs. doing that activity that they'll "be limited too all weekend." DA, you and Herr are family to me, and the whole thought of that is a little incestuous.

I can't wait to see pictures of all the work on the house. You guys have been insanely busy and totally deserved a pj day. Hope it was awesome.

Hmm, vacations..I'm thinking maybe Chicago or East Coast?

If you can't get Jamaica (which I highly recommend) you could try Asheville. I surprised Oodgie with a long weekend there a couple years ago, and it was still fairly warm and unbeivably beautiful. We stayed at the Inn at the Biltmore Estate (http://www.biltmore.com/) where the food, scenery, and activities were awesome. And althought it's not hot, it's probably warmer than New Jersey.

Why not get in the car and plan a road trip???
and ask MIL to stay all of Sunday....
I am certain that you could get to MyrtleBeach or Florida or or any place that could be warm within 8 hours... Have some goodtunes, buy some really good sandwiches, have a picnic and just take you where the windb blows...

If you can't do warm and a beach with umbrella drinks, try Toronto. My husband and I went for 5 days before we adopted our daughter.

We had a great time and then, the exchange rate was $1.00 American = $1.52 Canadian.

Oh man did I shop. We had some very nice dinners, as well.

Great restaurants, show is you like that sort of thing, museums. The CN Tower is pretty incredible and the Hockey Hall Of Fame is there, as well.

Oh did I mention shopping?

Y'know, we went to San Francisco on our tenth anniversary, in November 2004 (good lord, it was that long ago). It was FABULOUS. It was lovely; warm but not hot, blue skies (only rained once), and I totally didn't feel out-of-place (a first in my life).

A weekend, though, just might not be long enough. We were there for ten days and could have stayed longer.

I love days that I stay in my jammies all day or at least sweatpants! My husband comes home and does notice. "isn't that what you were wearing last night?" "no, that was my other sweat outfit, remember you ARE colorblind". We are celebrating our 10th anniversary this November and I also was having a hard time planning a getaway, especially one not too far away, as I will be leaving my children with my mother. We finally decided on a concert and overnight at a hotel in Albany. I really dont care as long as we are away from my lunatic children for a night! I would go longer but thats all the babysitting time we have. Hope you have fun on your getaway.
