Baby Girl's New "Best Friend"

Meet Baby Girl's new friend. The last time I saw this was when I gave it to her last Easter. This morning she informed me that HIS name is Stack and that he's a boy. She held him all morning and had some rather lengthy discussions about Dora and Blue's Clues. He spent some time in the corner around 9:30 for "being fresh." She also busted his chops for not sharing. At no time did I hear him protest. He sat in her purse when we ran to the store. When we got home she started to cry because she couldn't find him. I found her purse and he was inside of one of her socks. When I asked her why he was in a sock, she looked at me like I had six eyes and told me that the sock was his coat.

Things got a little strange at lunch. She got agitated when he wouldn't eat his share of carrots--as if he wasn't pulling his weight or something. Then in the middle of lunch she asked to be excused to go potty.

"But Sweetie, you just went."

"No Mommy, Stack needs to go poopy."

Normally I would make her finish her lunch but I decided to humor her. She held him over the toilet and exclaimed over the "big snake" he pooped. She then made him wash his hands.

Later I heard her reading a book to Stack.

"Baby Girl, are you having fun reading to Stack? Does he like the book?

"Her name ISN'T Stack. HER name is Sharrow (Baby Girl's middle name) and she's a girl. And we're going to take a nap."

The things kids do never ceases to crack me up. I'm going to write a post about it, but unfortunately, my daughter;s favorite toy was lost yesterday and we still can't locate it. Suffice to say, last night was rough and we found my daughter this morning (in the freezing cold) in the car trying to find him. I don’t even know how long she was out there. Very scary.

I don't know what we are going to do. Ugh!

Oh my God. We are fortunate that we can easily order our daughter's true favorite friend if we needed to. It is scary that your daughter was out in the freezing cold looking for her special toy.

Oh, you must read about Bryce's "cat, Noir." Here's the link:

Dare I admit that Charlie also has an unusual attachment to a maraca? Two, actually. They're twins, see! (Yes, he tells me that. It frightens me.)

I think you may be his mother-in-law one day. We can get together and drink and love on our little maraca grandbabies. And drink. Did I mention that we would be drinking? What with the maracas and all.

Susan--I WISH it was a maraca. It's a Polish Easter Egg. I keep thinking of the health class project in High School where you had to take care of an egg like it was a baby (so you wouldn't get yourself knocked up.) I keep thinking she is doing this project a few years too early.

LOL - Susan, the twin maracas...that kills me!

Misfit Hausfrau - Bryce went through an egg phase, too. Had to take them with him when we went anywhere. Other kids take their power rangers, but not Bryce. He took his little plastic eggs.

An egg, eh? Okay, so it's probably quieter in bed than C's twin maracas?

Dear god our kids are weird.

True Dat, Susan. True Dat.

I thought it was a maraca, too. So I was like, "Well, duh, of COURSE it's a boy, what with the large handle and all."

Charlie loves his maraca (boy).
Baby Girl loves her egg (girl).

Is it obvious that I'm married to a shrink?
